I have a 97 S90 and it has a sound coming from the transmission when the car warms up. It sounds like someone sweeping with a broom, going at the speed of the engine. I tried flushing the ATF awhile back to no avail. I just drained the pan, I didn’t drain it from the cooling lines. Anyways, I thought that maybe moving to synthetic ATF might lower Trans temps enough so maybe the sound wont rear its ugly head. So my questions are:
-Will Mobil1 ATF lower the trans temps in any meaningful way over dyno ATF?
-Is flushing the lines really worth it versus draining the pan?
Now Engine Oil… I have valve ticking for the first couple minutes after startup. The previous owner was suspicious of synthetic oil (that it came with) and switched over to dyno.
-Can I switch back to synthetic without any problems? Doesn’t leak anything now.
-Also, what is the best weight oil to quiet those noisy valves?
Any other wisdom is appreciated.
