Ignition Coil Primary Resistance Problem

Hello,

I recently bought a fancy new distributor with electronic ignition as an upgrade. However, upon reading the instructions with the new distributor I came across a note that says 'Must use with a coil with a primary resistance of 0.5 to 1.0 Ohms.' I checked my coil to see and sure enough it came back with no resistance (or virtually none). My question is this: Before I buy a new coil with the specified primary resistance, could I possibly remedy this problem by installing a say 0.6 Ohm resistor on the negative terminal of the coil?

If anyone out there thinks this would work (or not) please let me know. I am no expert on this matter, so I thought I would ask before I tried something stupid.

Thanks to all in advance!!
