A new CA emissions functionality test caused our '88 240 DL wagon to Fail. The filler neck mouth over the years has become slightly out-of-round because of countless gas nozzle insertion and because of no/little vacuum seal, will not pass this part of emissions test.
Question: Can the filler neck be replaced separately, or does the entire gas tank need to be replaced? I don't know if the filler neck bolts on, or is integral to the tank with a pressed or soldered fit.
The seal at the filler neck mouth will need to be restored for the car to pass emissions.
Thanks, Robert
