The exhaust part of the combo manifold works fine, in my experience; I've been running one of these with the intake manifold cut away (Using the aluminum SU intake) for the past 20 years.

The Volvo mechanic/parts guy I used to get stuff from claimed the cut up combo exhausts were more durable than the dual outlet FI exhausts.

You will need stepped washers if you are going to combine it with the aluminum intake, or you can machine the recesses where the washers would fit to match the flange thickness of the aluminum intake.
