Driving without Overdrive Relay

Oh, yea! Another post about the Volvo overdrive problem....

I have removed the RELAY, and now the little arrow on the dashboard is finally off (after being on for a week)

Is it correct that:

1) I can drive the car?

2) the car will now only have 3 gears?

and a bonus question:

Has anyone used the IPD "Automatic Over-Drive Solenoid Bypass Kit"?
