I think they may vary a lot because the 1800 was the first with a remote shifter from the start.
The 164 started with it in 1969 and I think the 140s had it starting about 1972-73.
Shortly thereafter the shifter handles had a knob molded onto the shank so there are no threads.
I think all the 240s are that way.
