My '70 and '72s had the clips fastened to the body.
Unfortunately the clips at the bottom and lower sides are subject to rust.
I cannot fasten my lower trim because the clips have rusted away.
Others claim there were drain holes at the base of the windshield to prevent the rust, but I never saw any drain holes on my '70-145, '72-145 or '72-144.
