164 Choke Cable Problem resolved! 140-160 1969

Like I keep telling people, you gotta LOOK at the thing to tell what's wrong with it!
I clomb under the dash and sure enough, the last 2" of the cable was kinked and was just opening and
closing a U-bend. I took the cable out and pulled the wire through, finding several areas of
white zinc corrosion product and a little brown rust.
I went to work on the wire with steel wool and got it nice and smooth, got the kinks out of it and
put a piece of shrink tube over one cracked place in the plastic cover. I oiled it well with 3-in-1 oil
and it works pretty smewth now. The fun parts will be finding the spring steel clip that holds the loop
onto the bellcrank and re-routing the cable back under the dash.
Like many other projects, it seems like the most insignificant parts take the longest!
Many thanks!
