Hey guys,
I have been getting front end mild clunking from the front end since I pretty much bought the car.(164,000km in 2005) It might of gotten a bit worse as the years went by and I sort of put up with it.. This past summer I did a bit of an overhaul replacing the front ball joints/outer tie rod ends and pressing in new control arm bushings. All of this tightened up the steering a bit but the car is still not very smooth over bumps. I hate when I drive a new car such as my gf's civic and notice how nice and smooth it is over bumps and then get back in the Volvo which is twice the car but not great over bumps..
I will have some time off during Dec where I can do some work which might take a few days to complete so I was thinking about doing something about this problem.. The only thing I can think of is the front struts/mounts.. The problem is the car does not bounce at all, so could the struts still be worn out? If you push down on the front end it will oscillate once and come back to normal level... Iv read many posts about you guys replacing the struts, and I found Sachs (all 4) with front mounts for about $400US.. What do you think? Is there anything else I could replace that's cheaper which could be a problem?? I just got an alignment done a couple months ago after I did the suspension work..
The car is a 98 S90 with 305,000km
Thanks,
