960 random start / no start situation 900 1997

My 960 has a no start problem. I turn the key and everything is normal. When I rotate the key forward to start the car nothing happens. I've tried multiple times and it will start and run normal. Next time I try I get nothing. I've cleaned/checked battery connections. I'm thinking I've got a corroded contact somewhere. Can anybody help with a troubleshooting checklist?
