I bought one locally on ebay after seeing it in person with the originer owner. she was tired but solid. All records the size of a telephone book. He had omitted numerous problems with the car in the auction. I caught the problems when going over the car (all were minor but a lot of them)and then deducted the total amountof the parts costs from his asking price. I paid $500 for an '87 744GLE 250K 4 spd w/od. that my sister still drives with 285K now on the car.
If you are going to buy online then plan on seeing it in person and expecting everything is worn or broken on it. Then go from there. That way you will bid accoringly and won't be duped. You can laugh if it goes for more money because you know what shape it's in and how much more money they're going to have to put into it.
