I just replaced the brake light switch and found it was Italian. The same as the one I was replacing it with. But this time around it took me 15 minutes compared to hours of reaching into the foot well while on my knees. I even got to vacuum under my drivers seat.
I agree with you all. I realized its not always China's fault that things are made crappy. Although you can't put the blame on the workers cause those people over there are really given a short straw in life. They work all year in the city so the grandparents can take care of the kids in the Country side. PBS had a really good program about China not too long ago. Parents and kids only seeing each other for a couple weeks around the new year was pretty crazy. Young underage girls working all day all week for 5 years until they are so worn out they can't keep up anymore and are let go. Sweatshops in other words. But you have to admit there is a lot of crap coming from China/thirdworld and sold in the US as something useful.
I think the parts store told me they would order something better than the Chinese made one in-stock and then just sold me the Italian one in stock for $5 more. Those damn Americans.
