threads not matching? 120-130

Hello,

Using a nut is one way, but I have thread chasers up to that size.

Very early Volvo were made with MOSTLY European metric hardware. Starting in 1959, Volvo used MOSTLY standard US threads, and then went back to MOSTLY metric threads in 1974.

Your car should be MOSTLY US threads and therefore you need mostly standard size wrenches, but as I said there are exceptions.

A curious exception are some of the brake and clutch line fittings. The adaptor that screws into the brake master requires a 15mm wrench even though the threads are US fine threads. The female brake line nut that screws onto the aforementioned adaptor requires a 12mm wrench even though it has US threads as well. The clutch master has similiar peculiarities, although the female brake line nut requires a 13mm wrench. The original clutch flex hoses require a 16mm wrench as do some of the original brake flex hoses, all using US threads, go fiqure.

And the large clutch adjustment nut requires a 15mm wrench as well.

So when in doubt, check your wrench or socket fitment so you do not strip a bolt and of course check your threads with known good bolts.
