Your first question is the type of question I like to throw at my sister the Yale English Literature major as to why I have to deal with 2 pronounciations for 2 words spelled exactly the same.

When I refer to the "lead pipe" in the exhaust system, the word definition is "to be first, forward most" as opposed to the element, lead.

What system did you buy from IPD?

If it is the copy of the original system like the brand Starla, then the lead pipes from Volvo will work.

Some of the performance exhaust systems use larger than stock diameter pipes not compatiable with the stock lead pipes, unless you use a reducer to mate the 2 different diamter pipes.

There are 2 different lead pipes depending on which cast iron exhast manifold you have.

Early B18s used a single lead exhaust manifold that uses 2 studs and has 1 hole for the exhaust.

The later B18s and B20s used a dual lead exhaust manifold that has 3 studs and has 2 holes.

If you do have a larger than stock system, there is a Volvo dual lead pipe that can be easily modified that has a 2" outlet.
