Based on my understanding of how Volvo does those codes, you are stuck.

I would not spend any time or effort on any original brick radio. All of them had problems and none of them sounded very good, and by now they are all about shot.

For around $125 you can get a much better radio/CD with adapter faceplates that fit the hole in your dash and look good. I have a low-end Sony in my '91 that looks and sounds just fine. The kids can plug their iPods into it so they like it.
