89 740 turbo (4 speed manual) stalls at 40mph-pop clutch to restart-NOTHING

this 740 has been stalling 2-3 times per use generally in the first 20-30 minutes.At 40 mph it stalls and Iget not a sound when popping the clutch.# minutes later it will start fine.My hunch is electronic control unit,but I am a real novice here. Please out there:your thoughts?
