Interestingly enough, I started with an 850 series (T-5 sedan) a year ago, as well and then picked up a white 740T sedan for $900 in sub-average shape that I am slowly fixing. I am single, don't need two cars, and live in an apartment with only one sheltered parking spot so the 740 is parked by the road everyday. Work is 5 minutes away.
Daily ritual: 1. Check Brickboard; 2. Check Ebay for parts.
I am convincing myself that the only reason to keep a second Volvo (and spending precious money on it) is to see it as a project: I am planning to fix it up reliably enough to drive cross-country on a 10,000 trip in a few months...........
In Australia, old Volvos have a less than good image as are their usually older drivers:
