"Are these systems connected?"

The blower motor and the turn signal indicator may be related. The turn signal indicator picks up power through the turn signal switch, from the blinker mechanism which is powered by a RED wire from the back of the fuel gauge. The blower motor also gets power on a RED wire from the back of the fuel gauge, through the fan switch which splits the signal onto a BLUE wire and a BLACK wire (High/Low speeds). The high beam indicator is powered by a RED wire directly from the footswitch.

Unless there is a problem at the distribution point on the back of the fuel gauge, the problems are not related. Does the oil pressure light work? It gets power there too. If so, I would suspect bad connections at the blower motor or poor ground connection for the blower problem. The highbeam indicator problem is probably a loose or corroded wire at the footswitch. But the only way to know for sure is to test.

Do you have a wiring diagram? If not, see the SWEM site. You said your measuring devices are broken. You can make a voltage checker with a 12v bulb and some wire. You can make a continutity checker with a flashlight bulb, battery, and wire. Some assembly required. ;-)

Of course, $20 will buy a pretty neat little DVOM at the autoparts house.
