What you did was bypass the control output of the ECU that controls the FPRelay. The only danger with this approach is if you get in an accident, the engine dies, and the fuel system opens up, in this mode, the pumps will keep running. Personally, I'm very very fire averse!

This is a great "test mode" from what I've heard, but I'd never use it as a long term solution! Find a good used ECU, remove your bypass, and run the car... did the problem go away? If yes, problem solved!
