740 1990 heater blower motor 700 1990

The heater blower motor on my non-turbo 1990 740 is making that dreadful squeling noise.

The FAQ states that pre-1990 740 motors can be replaced with a GM part (NAPA 455-1076). Post 1990 cars cannot. MY 740 is a 1990. Does the pre-1990 or post-1990 rule apply?
