Hello Everyone,

I own an 82 VOLVO 245. My overdrive stopped working properly about a year ago. I would flick the switch (Auto Trans) and the OD light would engage only sometimes....an accurate representation of the OD itself. After a while, it stopped working entirely....meaning it stayed on all of the time. That would not be a problem. However, once in a while I get in the car and it's OFF...and the light says so. Obviously, this can be a problem for highway driving. Anyway....my first guess was the switch. I was naive and replaced it. No luck. My second guess....was the relay. I replaced it...no luck. Still broken. My question.....what do I check now? Or how? The OD solenoid? I'm fairly new to Volvos. Is this something I can fix myself? What would you check? Thanks.
