Compensation Board. Is this a normal occurance 200 1989

Years back I had a Comp. board failure. It either read read correctly or it was reading Ice cold. I added solder to the pins and put it back in. It's been fine for many years.
3 Weeks ago I was getting odd Temperature readings. A little hot a little cold and Good.
Suspecting a lazy T'stat, this past weekend I replace the Coolant and T'stat. It's doing the same thing. My real Question. Has anyone had a Compensation board that was reading funny (little hot, little cold)as opposed to not reading at all? I think I may just jumper out the Comp board but I'm curious about the miss readings. I also hate to make that kind of change even though I know it will help a Volvo shortcoming.
How much does the Temp gauge fluctuate with teh Comp Board Jumped out??
