Hello,
I’m working on a 1967 1800S which has a malfunctioning speedometer. This car is equipped with the early M41 transmission. The cable in this car does not appear to be broken. When both ends of the cable were respectively removed from the speedometer and transmission and turned by hand they moved in synchronization without any signs of the cable being broken. Furthermore, when the cable was attached to the transmission and removed from the speedometer the cable did not spin when the car was driven. Finally, I inspected the “L” shaped Helical gear (angle box) assembly which attaches the speedo cable to the transmission. The gears on speedo pinion seemed to be in good order and turned without a problem. Moreover, the pin was present and seemed to be in good order. What should I look at next? Is the problem perhaps the speedometer driving gear? What else could it be? If any further clarification is necessary please let me know. Thank you for your help.
