2 specific 134a air conversion questions on my 240 200 1989

Brickboard,

I just experimented converting my 1989 240 sedan and my 1990 240 wagon's air conditioners to 134a from freon.

Neither one of them has worked for the last several years so I really had very little to loose.

First let me just say that the Sweeds did not have their best day in the engineering department when they designed the access to their @%^$#&*^%@! pumps.

I used Interdynamics conversion kits and a Robinair manifold.

The sedan is working great. The wagon is not.

Having gone through the process, I have 2 specific questions:

1.) Which port (or ports) should I use to pull the vacuum on? I used the low side only but that is because I could not get my manifold hoze fitting to snap onto the high side adaptor (see question 2). The pressure seemed to drop too quickly leading me to wonder if I really got a good vacuum.

2.) I have not been successful getting my manifold hoze fitting to connect to my high side port. The problem is that my high side adaptor has a linkage to the old schrader valve that is a bit too long, preventing the high hoze from snapping onto the adaptor. I have used 2 different adaptors with no luck. One was purchased from Interdynamics and one was purchased from my local auto parts store brand unknown. Has anyone encountered this problem? If so, how can I resolve it?

Please advise. Thank you.
