Had a night time outing with my 1969 144s this week and noticed the headlights flickering as is would work the throttle pedal on-off.
It didn't even require putting the engine under load -- all that was needed to flick the lights was touching the pedal with my foot enough to take up the little bit of play in the linkage.
It was similar to the high beams being flicked on, but, I was only using the lows.
It is not the same as headlight "flare" as when the alternator belt is loose, or the idle too low.
