Tips on Replacing my O2 Sensor 900

I have a faulty O2 sensor that needs replacement and I would like to do it myself. I have a 1993 940 NA with the Rex Regina system. My O2 sensor is the three wire titania type sensor. I know it is critical to get the correct replacement O2 sensor for a Rex Regina system and not the Bosch Zirconia. After I get correct sensor, how do I replace the old one? Do I cut wires and re-splice? Do I replace by running the wire all the way back to the engine? Any and all tips are appreciated. Thanks!
