idle control and automatic transmission questions 900 1993

Hello,

I have a 93 945T. I am getting it into shape, but I have a few questions about the idle. Here is the data:
It idles at about 950rpm (measured on the dash). Seems controlled. The idle control switch is adjusted and seems to work OK, as judged by a digital ohm meter. Also, if I unplug it, the idle goes up to ~1500. I don't really have any problem with 950rpm, except that the car always wants to move forward. It takes some brake pressure to keep it still at a light. I have replaced most of the vacume hoses and tested for an intake leak by pinching off the idle control valve hose (the car stalled.) The temp sensor has a reasonable ohm reading (at the sensor) according to the faq. I couldn't figure how to get the cover off of the electrical connector at the ECU to test the voltage there (any suggestions on that?) I don't have a fuel pressure tester- could a faulty fuel pressure regulator be to blame? Removing the vacume hose on the fuel pressure regulator and plugging the hose causes a momentary increase in idle speed, but it returns to ~950. The idle air control valve is original and a little sticky when it is very cold outside (idle oscillatates 800/1500 when it is very cold).

Finally, I have noticed that the idle goes up momentarily when I move the gear selector toward drive when in neutral. (ie on the drive side of the neutral position.) Is this is the ECU adjusting for the added drag of the torque converter? If so, I didn't know that this car was that smart.

Thank you,
Steve
