Steve..
It may be in the FAQ's, but I could not find it. If not you may can use this.

At the time it was my 91 940T - a few years back. I was driving it down the road and she just died. This was one of my first bricks, and I was green as far as knowing what to do.
Had it towed to a local shop that worked on foreign cars & a lot of Volvo's. When I picked it up he had replaced the cap and rotor. He showed me carbon tracking on the back side of the old cap, under the black cover. It was pretty bad, and he said that the carbon had arced and shut it down.
Don't know if he was correct, but the car ran fine after that for many, many miles.

Take care ..
