Lots of posts as a new owner. :-)

Looking at the generator on my 68 144S. I don't think it is a alternator. It is on the passenger side. When you look at the belt from the fender it doesn't track straight from the water pump to the generator. The generator seems to be sitting ahead of the water pump.

Could my 144S have the wrong generator or maybe it is mounted on the wrong side of its bracket. I looked at it but it doesn't look like it would line up if I was able to move it to the other side of the mount. I also wonder if there were short and long shaft water pumps. I have to look at it closer to see if I can tell if the generator is lining up with the engine pulley. I saw a name on the generator but don't recall it right now. What brands of generator were used?

Also, were the side markers just reflectors? I pulled the lens but found no light bulb inside. From inside the hood it almost looks like a wire running out towards those side lights.
