My new motor and transmission is tantalizingly close...
After trying to install a new u-joint in my OD short driveshaft and eventually destroying it a couple of weeks ago, I ordered and received some nice german u-joints featuring the long grease nipple. I had initially tried the assembly with the nipple pointing back away from the flange. However, the long nipple hit the yoke. So I flipped it over and put it all together. Then, I realized that the long grease nipple ends right over one the of the flange bolt holes. Damn, maybe it was right the first time...
Getting the u-joint back out without destroying it is quite unlikely.
Do you think I can find a shorter grease nipple or a plug of some type to replace it with? Are those things pretty standardized as far as diameter and thread pitch?
