Solved 140-160 1969

After buying a new cap, rotor, wires, plugs and coil.......it was the point gap!!!

I admit I haven't worked on a car with points for ohhh...10 or 15 years, but still, silly me.

I installed the cap and rotor (they were both totally shot....no metal on the top of the rotor, no carbon rod at all on the cap), tested the condensor (bright blue spark on the inner dizzy spade connection with the key in the "on" position, and rechecked the point gap. It was below .35 mmm so I opened it up to .40 without moving the dizzy and boom! the car fired right up.

I didn't install the coil, so it's returnable. New points are on order and the wire set will be replaed with a proper one. It's a neihoff set for an 82 240, but it works, what the hell. The kids that work at Part Source here in town kept telling me it was the wrong one so after convincing them to sell the damn set to me...it's running. The wires are too long, but like I said they'll be replaced.

Now, back to good old plug and play LH 2.2......!!

Thanks for the help,

Josh
