Dang...what a nightmarish job it is to replace a heater core! Volvo wanted $1200 JUST for the labor and that was IF I supplied the parts. I would love to get my hands on the person who designed the placement of those heater cores!
I bought this car not long ago and the previous owner was not honest about it and did not tell me the heater core went out on it. He kept pointing out to me how clean it was under the dash. Now I know why...coolant leaked everywhere so he had to clean it. Believe me, it is odd when you own a car in the desert and it it spotless under the dash, at least the parts you can see.
Anyway, mission accomplished. While I was in there I went ahead and replaced the blower motor, the evaporator and the heat control valve. Figured I might as well do some preventative maintenance.
My advice if you have to do this? SELL YOUR CAR! :)
