Hey guys, I have an 84 240 dl with the m46 and I have to push the clutch pedal all the way to the floor to switch gears. I know that I need to adjust the cable, but do I need to move the cable closer to the engine or push it to the rear of the car?

I have a haynes manual and it doesnt really say. I climbed under the car and noticed there was only one nut, but the haynes manual pictured two. I assume i need to loosen the one nut and the cable slides, and then i thighten it and it is stationary. Is this the case?

Also I did not see a return spring connected to the release fork. Do some models not have this spring? Did mine fall off? Where does the other side of the spring connect?
