Starting problem 200 1979

"There was a broken timing belt in the trunk, so obviously it was changed. Could a timing issue cause no-start problems? The engine does crank - just won't start."

That's what I'd check. Why else would the previous owner leave a broken belt in the trunk? May have changed it and then couldn't get it started because didn't know how to line up things.
