Get an Owner's Manual 1-800-25-VOLVO, and there's a URL for on-line ordering but I can't remember it.

If it's like my 1988 240, the overdrive arrow is on when the shifter handle button has been pushed.

The system is set up so that the overdrive will engage by itself whenever conditions are right. Speed, gear you are in, throttle position, etc. That is the default position, sould be in place every startup.

If you want to not allow that, push the button. That inhibits the overdrive from engaging, and lights the amber arrow.

Good Luck,

Bob
