For the power stage part numbers by yr, check FCP groton website. On my 85 740. The alternator and the a/c have separate grounds. The ground on the a/c connects to a mounting bolt bracket then to the engine block. My ground on the alternator routes to the ICV mounting bracket for grounding. I think all your problems are more the power stage.
