AW71 tsk,tsk. 200 1984

Aye Roll:

Quite an impressive project. When it comes to AW71 vs. M46, go with the auto (IMHO). I am basing this on my daily driver experience (2000 Eclipse GS with custom T3 Turbo Install). Yes, it has an auto trans and easily pulls 0-60 times at 6.0 Seconds (11PSI boost). I have run against two other 2K Eclipses with 5 speed manuals and aftermarket turbo setups, on the Eighth mile, they were a quarter second behind. One of them was even running a bypass/recirc valve (rather than BOV) on the turbo, it didn't help much. Once that turbo spins down, it takes time for it to become efficient again... too much time!

If you plan on road course or autocross though, keep a close eye on the brakes as they take serious punishment when running an auto. Don't get me wrong, 240 brakes are awsome, but I have managed to heat crack a set of front Brembo rotors. They didn't come apart, but they were a serious mess.
