'K' camshaft in a B23A (carbureted) engine: good?

Hello all,

I lack experience with carbureted Volvo engines.

I am wondering if an SU-carbureted B23A engine, with a 9.6:1 CR, would perform well with a 'K' camshaft (11.95 mm. lift, 38º overlap)?

The B23A is factory-fitted with the milder 'A' cam (10.5 mm. lift, 32º overlap). I am unsure of how much lift and overlap an SU carburetor can deal with.

While we're at it, might that B23A even handle a higher-flowing '405' cylinder-head, along with the 'K' camshaft?

For reference, the '405' head and 'K' cam originally came on the fuel-injected B23E engine, available in Canada, with 10:1 CR and 136 HP.

Warm thanks in advance for your input!
