hmm, just put an '83 245 on the road a week or so ago and trying to address stuff.
I may have created this problem myself. My headlights appeared to be functioning improperly. The right headlamp seemed to point lower on high beam and higher on low beam. (I am now considering the possibility that the lamp may have been in upside down) Anyhow I noticed that the wires were not the same on the hi/lo headlamp fixture on the drivers as compared to the passengers side headlamp fixture. So I switched them on the passengers side (assuming that they had been fiddled with since there were taped red and black wires, different clips on the headlight cover and the springs were missing as well so somebody had been there).
It did not fix the situation.
Depending on how it is wired on the passenger side, I get low beams but no high's on the drivers side, or exchanging the red and blue wires (passenger side) I have very dim low beams on three of the 4 lamps. I have retrieved a wireing diagram from the local library (chiltons or haynes) and am even more confused about how the system works.
1) What is the fix here?
2) What is the proper order of the wires on each of the vehicle's hi/lo lamps?
3) Would digital photo's of the wires on the back of the lamps help here (how can I provide them)?
Thanks in advance
