Hello Andy:

Sometimes "check engine" lights can go off again without resetting codes-- it happened with my '92 945 this week-- the "check engine" light came on briefly on deceleration on my way to work. It set a 2-3-1 code on socket 2. I cleared it and it hasn't come back since. My O2 sensor metered out fine (as best I can tell with just a DVOM). I think it is accurate to say that the codes don't reset themselves on their own, but the light can go out...
