Before I order my wheels... Backspacing?

Backspacing (wheel offset) is normally measured from the centreline of the wheel so that rim width doesn't factor into the spec. The common Volvo offsets (somebody is certain to correct me if this is wrong) are +25MM for RWD to 1994, and +43MM for all FWD 850/70 series and RWD (960/90) models from 1995.

Was your "five inch" value gotten by dividing 8" in half (4") +1" (25.4mm)? If it is, then you are getting wheels that fit to RWD 1994 but incorrect for yours. 1995+ uses a FWD type wheel. You should request that your supplier uses standard measurements to avoid errors.
