Hello Mark, and sorry for hijacking a thread, but I have a question for a Volvo professional tech!

My '92 945T has developed at least one rust hole through the oilpan. This car has about 200K mi, mostly highway, but on heavily salted roads in winters. There are numerous scabby blisters of rust on it.

Have you encountered this before? Probably not often in California, I suppose...

What do you bill for in terms of hours when you replace an oilpan on one of these cars? Would you go the extra mile and do oil pump and rod bearings too?

I am also curious if you have any idea about repairing the holes on the existing pan. I don't want to spend a mint on it, but I want a reliable repair. Otherwise the car is in good shape for its age-- no body corrosion-- the PO spent $13K on maintenance and repair bills over the last 13 years. I did have to do intercooler hoses and full brakes-- all friction material, rotors and emergency brake hardware and cables. It passed safety and emissions testing locally.

I'd appreciate your experience regarding pan replacement billing so I can gauge the local indy guy's prices. He seems honest and competent-- I'm just not used to giving other people my money to have car work done!
