Oil in the Coolant 700 1988

Any body have this problem? I usually maintain the car, but I'm in PA now & car is w/ daughter in IN and son reports oil in the coolant. Car has ~ 270,000 mile and runs fine. Do we need a new head gasket or will retorquing head bolts help? There is a small brass transmission cooler in the radiator which could be the source of oil but I suspect head gasket at these miles. Any help is appreciated, Bob
