I always remove the Hall effect cable first. Press on the wire release and push toward the firewall. If you can't get it loose this way, wait until you have it removed and put the cap back on to remove it. If you try removing it without the distributor cap in place, you'll probably break an old Hall effect connector.
Three 8mm head bolts hold the cap in place loosen them with an 8mm wrench, and then take the cap off. Once the cap is off, then remove the two 10mm head bolts holding the distributor to the head. A little careful twisting and tapping on the distributor will then get it out of the head.
