coil cable explosion 120-130

Today, when I started my car, (122 with b20b engine) the coil cable blew up. I have never seen anything like it. When I looked in the engine I found the beginning of the cable sticking out of the distributer, and it's end sticking out ot the coil. The rest was laying on the cam cover. The cable was broken at about an inch in from both ends, but no sign of anything burnt. I put on a new cable, and it started up and ran fine. I had just changed my spark plugs, a few minutes before.
