I have an '81 240 wagon w/ B21F (K Jetronic) and am buying a rusted out '83 w/ B23F (electronic injection) for parts. According to the specs I have read there is little difference in power between these two engines in spite of the increased displacement, but the later version is reported to be far more economical - would it be feasible or advisable to simply move the B23 head, manifold, and injection system to the older block (saves me renting an engine hoist)? I'm thinking there might be a block temp sensor in the later system that can't be installed in the B21, or mounting points for the intake system that it lacks.
I will also be replacing my 3 speed auto tranny with the overdrive auto tranny from the '83 . . . apart from changing shifters and wiring up the overdrive & relay, is there anything else I need to do?
Any advice welcome.
TIA
