model 850-heater coupling 1993

I'm not sure if I can get 1993 850 questions here or not?

My heater tube couplings are leaking (inside) this is the one that goes through the firewall. I tried to reach up and seal with silicone from under the dash but it is very tight and hard to access. Has anyone changed one of these out? If so is there an easy way? the coupling must be removed from the inside. I can take my heater box off > disconnect my heater tubes there, but after that I'm lost. The gas pedal seems to be in the way as well as a part of the heater that is in the back leaving little room to remove the coupling. >> looks like thick rubber insualtion between the coupling and fire wall. I'm wondering if I cut the thick rubber> take the plate off on the engine side> where the heater hoses enter. If i may have room to angle the coupling to get it out and another in. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. How is the gas pedal removed from the floor?

Thanks.
