My 240 was starting and running just fine until a few days ago when I got in it to crank it. Nothing happened. The battery is fine because all of the equipment seems to work (horn blows, radio plays, lights work). I used a voltmeter to test across the battery terminals and got 12.4 volts. I followed the procedure in Chiltons for testing the ignition coil and it appears to be OK.
I followed a suggestion from this forum to place a jumper between the # 4 & #6 fuse to see if the fuel pump was working and it is. There is just no clicking sound or anything from the starter. Any suggestions on what to do next or what might be wrong? I sure don't want to go see a mechanic. That will just ruin it for me to do so and it turn out to be something that I should be able to handle.
Thanks to all of you. This forum is great.
