Antenna weirdness/static

Sometimes I get a bunch of weird static when I turn on the factory radio in my 745--even after the antenna has already gone up. It's not related to the particular station, b/c it happens with all of them when it happens. But sometimes it's fine. The antenna itself goes up and down OK.

Any idea if it's the head unit or the antenna--or, God forbid, the wiring connecting the two? I was planning to get a new radio/CD player, but I don't wanna do that if the wiring is shot.

Oh, one more thing: You know that screw-on-antenna mount on the back edge of the roof, just above the middle of the hatch? Anyone know where I can get a replacement fixed antenna, to help out the retracting one?
