Tail shaft play 200 1984

Hello,
I recently replaced the tailshaft bushing/seal in my aw70. I did it, just to feel like there was nothing wrong with it, not due to trouble. Anyway, I have read others talk of doing it due to play i the shaft. Whan I removed my shaft and housing, the output shaft or whatever the tailshaft connects to could be moved a good bit in all directions. Is this normal? I realize I may have some wear on the tailshaft due to its appearance, but after bushing replacement, I could still hold the flange and move it as though it still had play in it. Can anybody tell me anything about what I have described? Is my transmission badly worn/about to fail? Thanks for your time, Kenneth
